Barsony Ceramic Hula Girl

This is an original ceramic hula girl made in Guildford near Sydney by Barsony, the best known of the "black lady" manufacturers from the 1950s to the early 1970s.

Judging by her code on the base which states FL, and a serial number, this girl was originally intended as a Figure Lamp, but has had the top of the head filled where the lamp would normally be fitted.

Whether this has happened at the factory or not is unclear, as it's a neat job. In any case she's now an 11" figurine with ashtray!

Condition
No obvious signs of any breaks or repairs apart from the top of the head, and a few little paint chips that can easily be touched up.
